Busy, Busy

Miss Addie Grace is a busy girl. She has discovered her hands and loves to put them in her mouth. And, I would now classfy her as a thumb sucker. (She gets that from me.) Addie Grace has also discovered her voice. She loves to laugh and scream. After the 5am feeding, Derek and I drowsingly put the kids back to bed. We crawl back into our bed only to hear Addie's squeals of delight. Lila laughs, but neither Lila nor Will squeal much. Before long, we will have a chorus of squealers.

We are all doing well. Just waiting for warmer weather. I have a new jogging stroller on the way. I cannot wait to use it. A couple of weekends ago, I took the kids for a walk. The poor things are not used to sunlight. They did a lot of squinting.

The babies go to the doctor on Thursday for their four month wellness appointment. I will be sure to update you all then.
Last but not least, Matheny turned five today. She still acts like a puppy. For her birthday, she helped herself to several pacifiers!

Growing, growing!

Today the babies went to the doctor for their last round of Synagis shots (to prevent RSV). Thank goodness! The shots are very expensive (x3), and I cannot stand to hear their cries of discomfort. They were weighed today. Addie weighed 11lbs 4oz, Will 11lbs 2oz, and Lila 10lbs 1oz. With those chubby cheeks, we were sure that Addie weighed at least 13lbs! We were only supposed to see the nurse today, but the doctor stopped in to say hello. As a new mother, I cannot let an opportunity pass to ask questions, so I asked about Lila's somewhat lopsided head. Lila certainly favors lying on one side, despite our efforts to have her turn her head. The doctor mentioned a helmet. We go back next week for their 4-month wellness visit. I really hope that the doctor does not have to recommend a helmet!

Here is a video of Lila rolling over. The video plays for about 45 secs. before she rolls over, but it is worth the wait! Addie is not close to rolling over. She does have more weight to move around.

The babies are doing well. So far, they have escaped this nasty flu. Lila has overcome her aversion to eating without losing too much ground. On Monday, I took her to the doctor for a weight check. She was 9lbs. 8ozs. She has gained 6ozs in two weeks. They would have liked to see more weight gain, but she is just a little squirt and probably will always be!

Happy Valentine's Day from the triplets! I hope that you all enjoy this blog. I had intended to start a website a couple of months ago, but I have been busy! Lol. Since this is the inaugural post, I think that I will give you all a quick update on our progress. On February 5th, we went to the doctor for our third round of synagis shots (to prevent RSV). The babies were weighed. Addie weighed 10lbs 4ozs, Will 9lbs 12ozs, and Lila 9lbs 2ozs. Addie and Will are great eaters. Lila is still not too sure about the whole process. The babies are now all smiling. Not surprisingly, Addie was the first. She seems to be about two weeks ahead of Lila and Will developmentally. BUT, Will rolled over last Thursday. I think that he just hates tummy time that much!

I should also give you all a quick update on our routine. As many of you know, the babies fed every three hours around the clock for the first month or so. It took about 1.5 hours to feed all three. We had many helpers, but it about killed us all. We moved to four hour feedings in month two, and life improved dramatically. We now feed every 4.5 hours, and the feedings take only an hour. The good news is that sometimes the babies sleep a five hour stretch at night. Derek and I feed them about 10pm and then again at 4am. We are learning to function with little sleep.

Well, this post, as well as the others, will be brief. There is little time. But, I hope to frequently post pictures/videos.
